Dr Sharwood is a consultant medical specialist in paediatric endocrinology. She completed medical school at the University of Melbourne and her specialist training at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, and was lucky enough to spend some time with the Paediatric Endocrinology team at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, MD, USA. She looks after children with a range of endocrine problems including: Pituitary disorders Delayed or early (precocious) puberty Growth disorders Type 1 Diabetes Thyroid disease Dr Sharwood has a particular interest in pituitary disorders, endocrine effects of oncology therapy, disorders of puberty, and thyroid disorders. Dr Sharwood also works in clinical ethics, and is interested in collaborative decision making and fostering strong therapeutic relationships. She is currently completing her Masters degree in Bioethics. Dr Sharwood loves spending time with her family and her adorable baby boy, and looks forward to teaching him to snorkel!
