Dr Eric Guazzo has unrestricted registration with the National Medical Board of Australia as a specialist neurosurgeon and is credentialed to practice in general neurosurgery, spinal neurosurgery and paediatric neurosurgery. His current scope of practice includes the management of the full range of emergency and elective conditions within this surgical discipline. After completing his neurosurgery training in Brisbane and Melbourne he furthered his training and clinical experience during four years at the University of Cambridge Academic Department of Neurosurgery UK. Since returning to Townsville he has been in mixed public and private practice and holds the position of senior visiting neurosurgeon at the Townsville Hospital where he is the Director of the Department of Neurosurgery for the North Queensland Region. Dr Eric Guazzo is active in medical, nursing and allied health undergraduate and postgraduate education. He holds the appointment as Associate Professor at the James Cook University medical School and has served on the Surgical Education and Training Board of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and is currently an examiner for the fellowship in neurosurgery. His research interests are in the management of traumatic head injury and spinal cord injury and repair, the latter the subject of his research doctorate.
