Dr Wiseman is a female specialist gastroenterologist who has worked at Eastwood Gastrointestinal Specialists since 2009. She performs procedures at Macquarie University Hospital and collaborates with other specialists in the multidisciplinary Macquarie University Liver Cancer Care team. She also works in the liver clinics at Concord Hospital to provide specialist liver care.


Dr Wiseman undertook her medical training at the University of Sydney and she graduated with Honours. Her general medical and physician’s training was completed while working at Royal North Shore, Concord, Liverpool and Gosford Hospitals. She attained fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2008 and has established herself working in the Ryde-Concord-Macquarie areas.


Prior to studying medicine, she studied for a Bachelor degree in Medical Science and, after completing a thesis investigating the role of glycaemic index in the development of diabetes, she graduated with Honours. She has continued to have an interest in research, having published in peer-reviewed medical journals in the areas of liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and cancer.


Dr Wiseman knows the importance of listening to her patient’s problems and she offers practical advice and management of common gastrointestinal complaints such as constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, bleeding from the bowel, jaundice, reflux and bloating. She has an interest in treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and those requiring bowel cancer screening.


Dr Wiseman performs endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy and colonoscopy at the state-of-the-art Macquarie University Hospital where the most up to date equipment and practices are available. She collaborates closely with other specialists from Macquarie University Hospital and Concord Hospital. She is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and has been accredited for colonoscopy and gastroscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.


Elke lives in Sydney with her husband and 2 young children.
