Dion Forstner graduated with honours from the University of Tasmania in 1994. He has more than 15 years’ experience as a radiation oncologist. He is currently Dean of Faculty of Radiation Oncology of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), the peak professional body for radiation oncologists in Australia and New Zealand. He is passionate about advancing Radiation Oncology in Australia. Prior to commencing with Genesis Cancer Care in 2018, he was Head of Department at Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals for over 8 years and a staff specialist there for 15 years. During that time these centres became one of the largest public hospital departments in Australia with a strong academic contribution to radiation oncology. He has a long involvement in education both at a specialist level and medical students. He is a conjoint Associate Professor at Western Sydney University. Futhermore, Dion has a longstanding interest in head and neck cancers which commenced during his specialist training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He was instrumental in the significant expansion of the head and neck cancer service in south western Sydney and developed the multidisciplinary skin cancer service. He is committed to multi–disciplinary management of all aspects of care of head and neck cancer patients. He has other interests including the adoption of new technologies, management of skin malignancies, and improving the access of patients to quality radiation therapy. He is a director of Beyond Five which has developed the most comprehensive head and neck cancer patient information resources available anywhere in the world.
