Acupuncture originated in China and has been around for thousands of years yet has only been known in small priveleged circles for the past couple of hundred years until Chairman Maos advocation of TCM in the 1950s. Since then acupuncture has been growing steadily in its recognition and acceptance as an effective method of treating medically, wholistically, and non pharmaceutically. This gives people an excellent alternative treatment option to those, avoiding opioids, or are allergic to medications, or they find medications are ineffective or even perhaps expensive. Acupuncture needles are far smaller than hypodermic syringe needles and are quite often not felt when penetrating the skin. The needles are usually placed on the body's meridians, channeled pathways of the body that recently have been related to the fascia, connective tissue system. Certain points along the meridians have particular effects that can effect the physiology, endocrine system, autonomic nervous system , blood and fluids, immune response and pain receptivity of a person, for example, and these points are what a skilled acupuncturist uses to create a healing response. I have been an energetic healer for 20 years and recently completed a Bacheor of health science majoring in acupuncture. Now as an acupuncturist I combine my acupuncturist skills with my years of spiritual healing to help relieve , reduce and even erradicate pain. No person is the same as another, even though they may have the same condition, and they are treated according to their age, sex, lifestyle, body type etc. Certainly there are set point perscriptions for conditions yet these can be used as foundation or go to points to build upon and tailor a treatment to suit the patient. Acupuncture has a lot of evidence in the way of systematic reviews and meta analyis of randomised control trials, with its effectiveness on pain, especially chronic pain, being the most studied area of acupuncture. However pain can also be in the form of migraines and headaches, chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression, trauma, scar tissue, etc.
