efore embarking on a medical career I completed a BA in Economics and an MA in International Relations. I obtained my MBBS at The University of Queensland (UQ) and have been fascinated with spinal surgery since early in my training. I completed my basic and advanced surgical training in orthopaedics in Queensland prior to a fellowship in paediatric and adult spinal surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Royal Children’s Hospitals. My second fellowship year was the combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Fellowship at Vancouver General Hospital where I had an amazing opportunity to experience the breadth of orthopaedic and neurosurgical spinal practice.

I am interested in all facets of spinal surgery. My time is divided between adult and paediatric spinal surgery. This includes issues as varied as simple disc procedures to complex spinal deformity, spinal trauma and spinal cord injury as well as spinal tumour. From the paediatric perspective, my focuses are scoliosis and paediatric spinal trauma. I am also a senior lecturer at UQ teaching evidence-based spinal orthopaedics.
