Dr David Yeo is an Upper GI, Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgeon who works within the Departments of Upper GI and Transplant Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital as well as the Surgical Division of the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre. Prior to commencing work in 2014, he completed four years of post-fellowship training at RPA hospital in Sydney, Austin Hospital in Melbourne and St James’s University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom.

After completing a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Sydney, he went on to study Medicine graduating in 2002. He undertook Surgical training at both Royal Prince Alfred and St George Hospitals obtaining his General Surgical Fellowship in 2009. David then spent the next two years of his post-fellowship training completing the Australian and New Zealand Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (ANZHPBA) Fellowship Training program based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, Melbourne. In his fourth and final post-fellowship year he travelled to the United Kingdom to work at St James’s University Hospital where he learnt expertise in aggressive oncological liver resection and liver transplantation.

Academically, David completed a Masters of Surgery in 2008 focusing on the impact of PET/CT imaging on the treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases. He is the Clinical Research and Education lead in Upper GI Surgery within the Institute of Academic Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. This involves mentoring research amongst junior doctors, medical students and allied health staff within the department.

David has broad clinical interests. Oncologically, he specializes in liver tumours, both primary and secondary, pancreatic tumours and biliary/gallbladder tumours. He also has an interest in benign Upper GI and general surgery including gallstone disease, hernias and bariatric surgery.
