David completed his medical degree at St. Thomas’ Hospital and trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (MRCOG) and General Surgery (FRCS) in London and Oxford also spending two years at the Ludwig Institute researching the relationship of Human Papilloma Virus infection to Cervical Cancer.

In 1999 on returning to the UK after having spent a year in Melbourne, he was appointed as a Consultant in O&G in Fife, Scotland. He moved back to England in 2004 to help establish a Gynaecological Cancer Centre in Taunton, Somerset. He led the County’s Dysplasia service and pioneered Laparoscopic Hysterectomy for endometrial cancer, becoming Musgrove Park Hospital’s first Clinical Lead for Minimal Access Surgery.

David was offered a Staff Specialist post in Gynaecology at The Women's and became Head of the Dysplasia Service, being awarded his Fellowship of the RANZCOG in 2010. In addition to his responsibilities at The Women’s, he is Honorary Consultant to the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Familial Cancer Clinic and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Melbourne. He is in a number of Dysplasia and Oncology research projects, and is one of the accredited surgeons in the LACE study investigating the benefits of laparoscopic surgery in endometrial cancer.

His major clinical interests are in the prevention of Gynaecological cancer, but he has wide-ranging experience in all forms of Gynaecological surgery, especially complex open cases, laparoscopic hysterectomy and risk-reduction procedures and the use of Laser and electro-surgery in the treatment of cervical pre-cancer.
