Dr David Hermann is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in paediatric sports injuries, particularly to the knee, shoulder and ankles. He also addresses early stage arthritis damage of the knee joint with osteotomy; a surgery technique used to relieve the pressure on the damaged area. He supports children to achieve a sustainable return to sport and activity.
With Orthopaedics SA, Dr Hermann consults at Memorial Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital and Burnside Hospital. He is a Senior Visiting Orthopaedic Specialist and Director of Sports Injuries at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in North Adelaide.
After completing basic medical training at the University of Adelaide in 1994, he obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2005. Following this, he undertook a Sports Fellowship at The Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic (Ontario, Canada), which treats knee, shoulder and ankle injuries and has long-term experience with high-tibial osteotomy. To keep abreast of international best practice, Dr Hermann has visited orthopaedic centres throughout the US, UK and France. He is Chairman of Orthopaedics SA and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
