After growing up in Queensland Dr Hagley graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours. He then completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland. Dr Hagley has trained in a variety of Australian hospitals before completing the Royal Australasian College of Surgery Fellowship in Vascular Surgery in 2014. During this time, he trained under senior surgeons at the Royal Brisbane, and Princess Alexandra Hospitals in Brisbane, as well as the Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. He then completed two post fellowship years doing further subspecialty training. In London Dr Hagley spent a year at the largest vascular unit in Europe, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, attaining additional specialist skills in open and endovascular aortic surgery. There he worked with pioneering venous vascular surgeon Mr Stephen Black with developing techniques for deep venous reconstruction. He has published and presented this work at national and international forums. He then travelled to back to Royal Brisbane Hospital as the Senior Clinical Fellow to further enhance his skills with open aortic surgery and advanced renal access management. Dr Hagley is a consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Mater Public and Private Hospitals. He consults from Silverton Place on Wickham Terrace, The Mater Medical Centre, South Brisbane and at the Peninsula Specialist Centre at Kipparing. Operations are largely performed at the Mater Private Hospital with regular Mater Public intermediate lists.
