Dr Claughton graduated from UWA in 2003 and spent time training in Perth, remote South Africa, the Kimberley and Arnhem Land. He received his FRACGP in 2009 while living in Gapuwiyak, a remote community where he also learnt to speak Yolngu Matha (Djambarrpuyngu) and completed a GC in Yolngu Studies from CDU. His special interests include; hypertension, type two diabetes, osteoporosis, asthma, cardiovascular disease, obesity and anxiety/depression. He also performs minor procedures and has an interest in skin cancer. His other interests include running New Jerusalem Cuisine restaurant in Erindale with his wife Monica, and together they are building an orphanage in South Sudan, where Monica was born.
