Dr Christopher Tracey (Urologist)
Dr Tracey was born and raised on the Gold Coast. He graduated from medicine at the University Of Queensland in 1998. Prior to his training as a urologist, he trained in general surgery for 5 years. During this time he dedicated a year to research into cellular on his immunotherapy for prostate cancer, and completed a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Queensland in the process. He then embarked on his urological training, gaining his fellowship qualifications from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009.
He then undertook post-fellowship training in London, in the prestigious Imperial NHS Trust at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith and Northwick Park Hospitals in advanced laparoscopic surgery and uro-oncology. Following this he undertook a second post-fellowship training position at the University College Hospital in Central London in robotic surgery.
Upon return to the Gold Coast at the end of 2011, he was offered a position as a visiting consultant urologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital where he has subsequently performed the first laparoscopic pyeloplasty and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy at that institution. He additionally joined Gold Coast Urology group in private practice, consulting in Southport, with operating privileges at Allamanda and Pindara Hospitals.
As a visiting specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital, he set up a video urodynamic service at Robina hospital (the only service currently available on the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales). He is the only urologist accredited by medicare for intravesical Botox treatments for bladder overactivity and is the only urologist that performs sacral neuromodulator insertion for dysfunctional bladders on the Gold Coast.
He is the urological representative on the medical advisory committee for Pindara Hospital and is in the steering committee for the Queensland Prostate Cancer Database.
As his position as a lecturer for Griffith university, he regularly is involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors.
He currently consults in Southport and Hope Island and operates at Allamanda, Pindara and The Gold Coast University Hospitals. His video urodynamic sessions are located at Robina Hospital.
