have been in Australia since 2004, inititially in Central Queensland. I completed my Australian Fellowship early in 2006, and in 2008 changed from the tropical coast to the Snowy Mountains. I love the variation of general practice in a small town, and the continuity and scope of care that we can provide in this context. On the other hand there is the desire to be better in certain fields of medicine. Sharp Street Surgery is a big practice, which gives us an opportunity to create our individual type of practice according to interest. My passion in medicine is leaning towards Internal Medicine, and I have a large practice dealing with diabetes, rheumatology, osteoporosis, as well as cardiac disease and respiratory medicine. Outside of the practice I have a family of two adult children and two Burmese cats. Only in Australia can children of an immigrant get the opportunity to study at some of the best universities in the whole world, and I am grateful that they both embraced the chance with open arms. My other hobbies are running, my favourite distance is the half marathon, and gardening. I have a flourishing garden, with drought and cold resistant plants, which is my pride and joy. I love a good read, and that often turns out to be medicine! And of course I love to hang out with all my new Australian friends. I am privileged to have excellent staff at the surgery, which is like my other family, with all my blood family over the water in distant South Africa.
