Dr. Charmaine Chung is a medical retinal specialist with a particular interest in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases. She is involved in the recruitment and management of patients enrolled in current international trials looking at new treatments for these diseases.

She is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College, a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr Chung graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney and furthered her studies with a Masters of Public Health, graduating with Honours. Her general ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital included rotations through metropolitan, outer Sydney and regional hospitals providing a broad range of experience in managing complex ophthalmic diseases in both local and migrant populations.

Her Medical Retina Fellowship at Westmead Public Hospital provided extensive practical experience in retinal laser and in providing comfortable eye injections to patients on a regular, ongoing basis.

Dr Chung is committed to individualized patient care and their collaborative management with general practitioners, optometrists and other medical specialists.
