Dr Cameron Ward (Paediatric Cardiologist)

Dr Ward completed his undergraduate medical degree at UNSW prior to undertaking paediatric training at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. He then initiated his basic paediatric cardiac training at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children before accepting a one year British Columbia Heart and Stroke Foundation scholarship at British Columbia Children’s Hospital Vancouver, Canada where he gained additional skills in fetal echocardiography and imaging. He then undertook an interventional fellowship year at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas before being appointed as Assistant Professor to the Variety Children’s Heart Centre Winnipeg , Canada.

Dr Ward returned to Australia to a joint appointment at the Mater Children’s and the Prince Charles Hospitals in Brisbane. He established the Queensland fetal echocardiography service and jointly established the Queensland paediatric interventional services with the introduction of a wide variety of new procedures. He was the paediatric cardiologist for Operation Open Heart to Fiji for a number of years.

Dr Ward has written a number of research papers and instigated the world’s first paediatric hybrid procedure in Houston, Texas. He served on the Royal Australian College of Physicians Written examination committee, Queensland State committee of the College of Physicians and is currently on the Royal Australian College of Physicians National Examining panel. He maintains a full time position at the Queensland Childrens Hospital and provides the only paediatric cardiac service to the Gold Coast at the Gold Coast Private Hospital
