Dr Brian Chua graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and a Masters of Public Health. He commenced his junior medical officer appointment at Royal North Shore Hospital before starting Ophthalmology training through the Sydney Eye Hospital.
Dr Chua was heavily involved in the Blue Mountains Eye Study, both as the study coordinator and a clinical examiner, through the Centre for Vision Research at Westmead Hospital. After completing his ophthalmic training at the Sydney Eye Hospital, Dr Chua undertook a further fellowship training to sub-specialise in glaucoma at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne before returning to Sydney to continue his clinical and research commitments.
Dr Chua has authored numerous scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at local and international scientific congresses. He is currently a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Sydney University, and the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University.
Dr Chua has a subspecialty interest in Cataract and Glaucoma surgery.
