Dr Brendan Bell is a founding partner of CardioVascular Clinics (CVC) and is committed to providing comprehensive quaternary cardiac care. Brendan has special interests in transradial complex coronary interventions, peripheral arterial disease and all aspects of clinical cardiology, particularly chest pain assessment, primary and secondary prevention, and peri-operative management of cardiac patients.
Brendan graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 with the University Medal and Lillian Cooper Prize for Dux of Medicine. He conducted his basic medical training at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and completed his specialist cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane in 2009.
Brendan then undertook an interventional cardiology fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital and in 2010 travelled to Lahey Clinic in Boston for a two-year interventional coronary and peripheral endovascular fellowship. During this time he was honored to be a member of Project Pacer International providing voluntary cardiac care in Ethiopia. The project is a Boston based, non-profit organisation, dedicated to the provision of modern cardiac therapy to impoverished patients in the developing world.
Brendan is recognized as an interventional cardiologist and also as an experienced proceduralist by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Peripheral Endovascular Therapy.
On returning to Australia in 2012, Brendan commenced at The Prince Charles Hospital as Staff interventional cardiologist. Since 2013 Brendan has been the Director of the Coronary Care Unit, as well as the Chest Pain Assessment Service at The Prince Charles Hospital where approximately 2000 patients a year are admitted to the unit.
Brendan remains active in medical research and has presented and performed live interventional cases for local and international conferences, as well as published numerous articles in the field of interventional cardiology.
Brendan is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and is committed to regular teaching of medical students and physician trainees. He has authored several cardiac guidelines and is a member of the Statewide Anticoagulation Committee.
