Dr Braad Sowman obtained his medical degree at the University of Western Australia and successfully completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Training in Western Australia. Prior to this, he obtained a Degree in Dental Surgery, from the University of Otago, and was a registered Dental Surgeon for 10 years.
Dr Sowman’s post Fellowship training includes an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital and compellation of AO Spine Fellowship in Brisbane, in both Paediatric and Adult spine conditions. This Fellowship was undertaken at Princess Alexandria Hospital, Mater Children’s Hospital, Mater Private Hospital and Brisbane Private Hospital. The Fellowship encompasses both elective and acute conditions of the entire spine, and is an internationally recognised Fellowship.
Dr Sowman has a public appointment at Joondalup Health Campus. His rooms are situated at St John of God Subiaco Hospital and Joondalup Health Campus.
Dr Sowman is a member of the Spine Society of Australia and the AMA. He also has an interest in teaching, and currently is an instructor for the early management of severe trauma (EMST) for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and is involved in the education of Undergraduate medical students at The University of Notre Dame. Dr Sowman has published articles and also given Podium presentations at Australian Orthopaedic Associations annual scientific meeting and Spine Society of Australia, annual scientific meeting.
