Dr Bish Dutta is a senior Australian Specialist Dermatopathologist. Bish migrated to Australia in 1970. He trained as a registrar in anatomical pathology at Prince of Wales, Prince Henry and then Royal Prince Alfred hospitals from 1970 to 1973, and was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1974.
After one year as a senior registrar in anatomical pathology at Adelaide Children’s Hospital, Bish returned to Sydney and worked for two years in two large private pathology laboratories.
In 1978, Bish founded his own specialist dermatopathology practice, Dutta Pathology. This he ran successfully for 33 years. When, in 2010, Bish decided to join forces with Laverty Pathology, he became the first full-time dermatopathologist managing his own specialist dermatopathology private practice to merge that practice with Laverty Pathology.
Bish has co-authored many articles in dermatopathology published in international peer-reviewed scientific literature, including the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, Journal of American Academy of Dermatology and American Journal of Surgical Pathology. Bish is an active member of American Society of Dermatopathology, International Society of Dermatopathology and Australasian Dermatopathology Society. He has presented many scientific papers at annual meetings of national and international societies of dermatopathology, and in 2015 was invited to speak at the Symposium of the International Society of Dermatopathology held in New Delhi, India.
In 2012, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA, selected Bish as one of 1000 international dermatopathologists surveyed to define current expert opinion on the key components of clinical information provided on dermatopathology request forms.
Bish has delivered dermatopathology tutorials to dermatology and pathology registrars for nearly 25 years. For his contributions to dermatology, the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2008 awarded Bish Associate College Membership.
Bish enthusiastically joins his Specialist Dermatopathologist friends and colleagues at Kossard Dermatopathologists.
