Dr Betty Lau is Singaporean Chinese who graduated from University of London with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1987. She started her vocational training in General Practice in London where she had extensive hospital experience in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Geriatric Medicine and Psychiatry. She moved to Perth in 1991, worked in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and obtained her Fellowship in General Practice in 1994. Her special interests are all aspects of Women’s Health: fertility, antenatal care, adolescent gynaecology, complex birth control issues, menopause management/HRT and Mirena IUD. She has special interests in Diagnostic Medicine, Cancer Care and Psychiatry and can prescribe antiviral drugs for chronic Hepatitis B. Dr Lau is fluent in Mandarin and also speaks some Hokkien, Foochow and Cantonese. Betty is involved in the teaching of medical students and GP Registrars. Other interests include: cooking travelling and reading crime novels.
