Dr Anderson established his cardiothoracic surgical practice on the Gold Coast in 2008. Previously he was a staff surgeon and supervisor of training at The Princess Alexandra Hospital. His early interest was in transplantation at The Prince Charles and St Vincentʼs Hospitals.He was trained in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane and has experience in robotic cardiac surgery.
Currently his public and private practice extends over several hospitals - John Flynn, Tweed, Allamanda, Pindara and Gold Coast Hospitals. He is involved in the proposed development of public cardiac surgery at the new Gold Coast University Hospital planned for the near future.
He maintains an active commitment with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons through writing exams and convening examinations for training surgeons. He is also involved with standard setting and student education. His practice welcomes student placements for cardiothoracic surgery.
The main focus of his practice is towards minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery where safe and appropriate.
