I initially graduated from Deakin University with a Masters in Clinical Dietetics and a particular interest in Sports Nutrition. My work as a dietician in Melbourne included time spent at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and at the Western Bulldogs Football Club. An appreciation of how diet influences health is something I remain passionate about today. I then broadened my skill set by pursuing a post-graduate medical degree through Notre Dame, with subsequent hospital years focusing on critical care medicine. This provided me with a foundation to approach my time spent as a military doctor, an enjoyable pathway, that afforded me many rewarding life and medical experiences. It also fostered a passion in sports and underwater medicine, through provision of care in these areas to elite military personal. Acquiring my General Practice Fellowship has enabled me to adopt a patient-orientated approach to my medical care. I enjoy all aspects of primary care, with particular interests in sports and musculoskeletal medicine, men’s health, dietetics, veteran health and acute medical problems. I continue to embrace my passion for sports medicine through my role as the medical officer for the East Fremantle Football Club, and have extensive experience with amateur and elite sport. I offer dive medical assessments, from adolescents, through to older adults, including for patients with medical conditions that may potentially limit their ability to dive. I remain passionate about veteran health, both for those who served along with their families and understand the unique challenges for families of our current and ex-serving men and women, including obstacles faced transitioning out of the military. Outside of work, my favourite job is being a father and husband to a young and very active family, where I try to be involved in as many kids activities as possible!
