Dr Ashraf Saleh (Dr Ash) has completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland, a Masters of Nutritional Science and a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of General Practitioners and attained a Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice in Emergency Medicine. He has also served in the Royal Australian Navy as a Medical Officer. He has skills and interests in diabetes, heart disease, orthopaedics, paediatrics, obstetrics/gynaecology and skin cancer.
Dr Ash completed officer training at the Royal Australian Naval College at HMAS Creswell, on Jervis Bay, NSW, which included leadership training, communication, seamanship, fire fighting and ship damage control, fitness training, basic weapons handling and parade and ceremonial.
Dr Ash has worked as a lab technician from 1996 to 2000, then volunteered in the Sydney Olympics as a National Olympic Committee team assistant and Opening Ceremony performer. He then worked as a health promotion officer 2001 to 2002 before getting a job in cancer trial coordination and spurring his interest in medicine. In 2007, he completed his medical degree in Brisbane and just before starting with the Navy, was working in Toowoomba Hospital, Goondiwindi Medical Centre and Oakey’s Cherry Street Medical Centre.
Since military service he has worked at the Toowoomba Hospital Emergency Department, Goondiwindi hospital, and St Vincent’s hospital Emergency Centre.
