Dr Tony Richards is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He trained at Adelaide University completing a Bachelor Medicine and Bachelor Surgery in 1999. Following Internship and Residency in Adelaide hospitals, he began specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Following six years of training, Dr Richards was awarded a Fellowship and commenced three years’ Sub-Specialty Training in Gynaecological Oncology which he undertook at Royal Pince Alfred Hospital, the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and the Peritonectomy and Liver Unit at St George Hospital. He received his Certificate in Gynaecological Oncology in July 2015. He also has Masters degrees in Reproductive Medicine and Business Administration.
Dr Richards has extensive experience in the management of cervical and genital dysplasia, risk-reducing surgery for gynaecological cancers, as well as gynaecology oncology. He also specialises in infertility, menopause and contraception. Dr Richards enjoys teaching trainees and is an Examiner at RANZCOG. He has published a number of papers and articles in various journals, has a keen interest in research and is a peer reviewer for two international journals. He is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group, participating in the Ovarian cancer tumour workgroup.
