“Almost a local …there’s a tag……have been in general practice lower mountains since 1983…..graduating from UNSW and trained at St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst . Having received extensive clinical experience through the FRACP training programme I ventured to the Blue Mountains to help a mate and discovered my real vocation – general practice. Initially in solo practice in an area where the group support was great and the division of general practice a real sense of professional kinship….. now in group practice [Blue Mountains Family Practice] with a cohort of friends since 1997 and under the guidance of IPN since 2011.
Happy with all aspects of general practice except insurance companies and energy inefficient bureaucracy….have special interests in psychological medicine / counselling and health promotion-sports medicine……kids spark the day and the older people re-assure the value of the journey.
Have embraced the energy of the local community and been involved in local medical division and area health board in a time when local practitioners input was considered helpful to promoting local health options through the hospital system and now in local charity support – a member of the Great Walk Foundation [Bathurst to Blaxland charity walk] since 2010.
.. fun is derived from regular attempts to experience the ultimate golf game, capture the perfect moment on camera during escape times in noosa or any places exotic or quietly indulging in VW kombi ventures. Can be found each morning with a quiet coffee reading a quick couple of chapters of my present favourite book, quietly planning my tilt at Camino de Santiago 2016. Blessed to live happily in Glenbrook with long suffering Debbie and sharing the kaliedoscopic life journeys of our five children …….. looking forward to many more years in practice until retirement age …if it is possible to catch up to it!
