Dr Capp graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1987, and completed her training in Radiation Oncology at St. Vincent's and St George Hospitals, Sydney. She then spent two years as a clinical research fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital UK, returning to Australia in 1997 to take up a staff specialist position at the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre, Wollongong.

Dr Capp moved to the Hunter region in 2006 to the Calvary Mater Newcastle to take up a senior staff specialist position, and from 2010-2012 was the director of the department of radiation oncology. Her interests include urological malignancies, lymphoma, gastro-intestinal tumours, gynaecologic malignancies and breast cancer. She is actively involved in clinical trial development and recruitment.
