Dr Andrew Rosenstengel graduated in 1998 with a first class Honours degree in Pharmacology from the University of Queensland prior to working at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research in Molecular Vaccine development. He graduated Medicine with Honours in 2003 from the University of Queensland, and was awarded his FRACP in 2011. He completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Prince Charles Hospital in 2011. He is a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Queensland.

Dr Rosenstengel has also completed a post-FRACP fellowship in pleural disease with an internationally recognised expert, Professor YC Gary Lee, at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth Western Australia. As part of this fellowship he has undertaken a Master of Philosophy post-graduate degree in the bacteriology of pleural infection through the University of Queensland. Andrew has developed and refined skills in pleural ultrasound, pleural procedures and indwelling pleural catheters for the management of malignant effusions.

He has presented both nationally and internationally in the area of pleural disease, and was recently awarded the best abstract submission from Australia from the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) for their 2012 conference, and the Australian Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Institute 2012 Award.

Dr Rosenstengel is committed to continuing his research in pleural disease at Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital, establishing it as a research site for an Australasian clinical trial (the AMPLE study).

Dr Rosenstengel is a current member of The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ), the American Thoracic Society (ATS), and is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP). He is the current chair of the Holy Spirit Northside Hospital Lung Cancer Meeting.

Andrew is dedicated to providing first class, evidence-based care in respiratory and sleep medicine, with a particular focus on lung cancer and pleural disease.
