Dr Gomes graduated in medicine from University of WA and completed further training at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital. In 2013 she was awarded the WAGPET community medicine award for her dedication to community based medicine. She grew up in rural WA where she has seen first hand the results of sun damaged skin in rural West Australians. Apart from her high academic achievements,she is also an accomplished musician, having won a number of awards and trophies in music festivals.
