Dr Andrea Tazbirkova obtained her undergraduate degree at the Charles University in Czech Republic. She has always been passionate about research and new advances in the field of medical oncology and this led her to joining a research group at the University of Queensland and Queensland Institute of Medical Research in Brisbane. She was actively involved in phase I and II clinical trials of dendritic cell-based immunotherapy for patients with haematological malignancies and solid tumours, presenting her work at multiple national and international meetings and published in peer review journals.
Dr Tazbirkova underwent her basic physician’s training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and successfully passed the Royal Australasian College of Physicians examinations in 2009. She commenced her advanced training in medical oncology at The Canberra Hospital and subsequently rotated through most tertiary hospitals in Brisbane. She was granted the Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in the field of medical oncology in December 2012.
