Dr Alon Talmor (Gynaecologist)

Dr Alon Talmor is an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a UK trained Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine. He attended King’s College London and obtained a Molecular Biology based research PhD in the field of male fertility.

Dr Talmor held medical training posts at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals in London as well as a Senior House Officer position at King’s College Hospital. In addition, Dr Talmor undertook an IVF clinical fellowship under Professor Lord Winston at Hammersmith Hospital. He undertook registrar and senior registrar training in Cambridge and was the first British trained doctor to complete his entire UK RCOG Reproductive Medicine Subspecialty training at Monash University in Melbourne.

Dr Talmor is a public consultant at Monash Health and a Senior Lecturer at Monash University. He was invited by the late Professor David Healy to take on his private practice and has a reputation for managing complex and difficult fertility related problems. Increasingly, Dr Talmor treats patients who have been given poor prognosis or labeled as ‘poor responders’ as well as those seeking fertility preservation for both medical and social reasons. His fertility interests are broad and include PCOS, endometriosis, male factor infertility, anovulation, and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Dr Talmor is heavily involved in research, he teaches and examines for the Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Reproductive Medicine degrees and is a training program supervisor for the specialist training at Monash Health. He is a RANZCOG member of the Victoria Regional Committee (VRC) and is heavily involved in education, teaching and fundraising. He also is a member of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinical Institute Executive of Epworth Hospital.

Dr Talmor has written numerous scientific papers and book chapters. He is a regular invited speaker at national and international meetings presenting his research and his expertise in improving safety and success rates of fertility treatment options.

Dr Talmor has a reputation for being a caring and compassionate doctor; always considering his patients’ best interests. As a clinician with a strong academic background, he firmly believes that medicine should always be practiced with evidence base. He dedicates time getting to know all of his patients, ensuring they understand what their diagnosis means for them and empowering them to make fully informed decisions regarding their treatment. Dr Talmor will always endeavor to see new patients within two weeks and offers evening appointments in his rooms at Epworth Hospital for patients wishing to be seen after working hours.
