Dr Newman specialises in the treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle, and he has a special interest in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, neuromuscular disorders and trauma.
Dr Newman graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1985. In 1999, he completed his training on the Sydney Orthopaedic Training Programme working extensively in both public and private hospitals in Sydney, Canberra and Wollongong.
During 2000, Dr Newman became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and completed a fellowship in Surgery of the Foot and Ankle at Harbourview Medical Centre, Seattle, USA with Professor ST Hansen Jr. On his return to Sydney, he gained Visting Medical Officer appointments at both Westmead and Auburn Hospitals. Along with the Sydney Adventist Hospital, he also has appointments at Hospital for Specialist Surgery and Westmead Private Hospital, where he has regular operating lists. Dr Newman is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and he is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
Dr Newman specialises in the treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle, and he has a special interest in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, neuromuscular disorders and trauma. He has publications in international orthopaedic scientific journals and regular involvement in the teaching of orthopaedic registrars and other junior medical officers.
