Dr Alex Willson is an interventional and general cardiologist specialising in the management of chest pain and valvular heart disease. He is an expert in coronary angiography and stenting via the wrist (radial artery) , percutaneous aortic valve replacement (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) and other structural heart interventions (ASD / PFO closure).

Dr Willson obtained his bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (MBBS) with honours from the University of Western Australia in 2000, and then completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians and Cardiology training in Perth in 2009. He then under took sub-speciality training in interventional cardiology and structural heart intervention through the University of British Columbia at St Pauls Hospital Vancouver from 2010 to 2012. In Vancouver he trained with Professor John Webb, the pioneer of percutaneous valvular technology.

Dr Willson has published extensively with over 30 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals including being lead author in JACC and has co-authored several book chapters. He has presented his research on valvular heart disease at international cardiology conferences.
