Setting challenges and goals is an important part of Alex’s life. Having dreamt about a better model of obstetric care for women in Sydney and having it come to fruition at Alana Healthcare for Women is an absolute pleasure. But then so to is deciding that a half marathon should be her first fun run. For Alex, the challenge to be the best you can has always been her drive and this commitment and passion are evident in her patient care…
Having not done enough study with a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy from the University of New South Wales, Alex set her sights on and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney. She then undertook her specialist training at St George Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women where she has also been a fellow in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Alex is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with a particular interest in fertility, miscarriage and reproductive endocrinology from adolescence to menopause and is able to provide expert continuity of care from conception to delivery of your baby.
Education, service and commitment have underpinned appointments as a staff specialist at the Royal Hospital for women, responsibility for the coordination of the GP antenatal shared care program and the postgraduate educational program for GPs practicing women’s health in the community. Alex is a conjoint lecturer and examiner at UNSW involved with the teaching, training and inspiration of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her dynamic approach, endless energy and depth of knowledge have made her a favourite of both medical practitioner and students alike.
A mum to two beautiful girls, Alex understands the pressures of balancing work and family. With a few more stains on her dress; a few more grey hairs; and a greater appreciation for a hot cup of uninterrupted, non-reheated coffee, she has emerged from the haze of the newborn years with a new understanding for creating balance in life. Being a mum has taught her the importance of commitment and dedication, discipline and patience, and never forgetting your goals and dreams.
