Dr Dalton Trained in London, UK, and qualified in 1980. He initially trained as a GP and ran his own practice in Sydney. Later he returned to the UK to finish Emergency Medicine training and helped develop London's first helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS). He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and won the Royal Society of Medicine best paper for 1993 on prehospital fluid administration. He is an ATLS, PHTLS and Major incident management instructor. He is a Fellow of both the Australian and the Royal Colleges of Emergency Medicine. He has worked in the Caribbean as Director of Emergency Services for the British Virgin Islands under the minister of health. He worked in Bermuda prior to settling in Brisbane as an emergency physician. He has published numerous articles, written a textbook and his special interest is aviation and medicine.
