Dr Adrian Cachia (MB BS FRCPA LLB (Hons 1) FACLM GAICD) is a senior Australian Dermatopathologist.
Adrian graduated Medicine from the University of Sydney in 1989. He passed the Part 1 examination of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 1991, going on to train in Anatomical Pathology and developing a special interest in dermatopathology at the Prince Henry and St George Hospitals in Sydney. He published molecular biology research into melanoma using a grant from the Edinburgh University Medical Faculty Cancer Research Fund, and has co-authored many other scientific papers in dermatology and pathology. Adrian has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia since 1996. Initially appointed as Staff Specialist in Anatomical Pathology at the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research (ICPMR) at Westmead Hospital, Adrian developed his expertise in dermatopathology at the Skin & Cancer Foundation Australia from 1999-2003 under the guidance of his friend, mentor and colleague; Professor Steven Kossard. Adrian then joined SDS Pathology, serving as its Medical Director in the two years prior to SDS Pathology merging with Laverty Pathology in 2008.
Adrian also holds a First Class Honours degree in Law from the University of New England, is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a Past-President of the Australasian Dermatopathology Society, serves as a voluntary assessor for the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Legal Medicine, and until recently served in an Honorary capacity on the Board of Directors, as Chair of the Professional Issues Committee, and as the Pathology Craft Group Representative of the Australian Medical Association (NSW).
Adrian has particular knowledge of and expertise in the design and management of large and complex legal and medical systems and laboratory processes. He is passionately committed to quality assurance and scientific excellence in dermatopathology. As Director of Operations for Kossard Dermatopathologists, Adrian is responsible for ensuring that the highest level of diagnostic dermatopathology provided by the entire team of Kossard Dermatopathologists is coupled with a first class service experience for all referring doctors and their patients.
