I am a surgeon with a major interest in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, weight loss and metabolic surgery. I also maintain a practice in General surgery including Gallbladder disease, hernias, Bowel cancer and Stomach/Esophageal cancer surgery. I was one of the first surgeons in Melbourne to perform both gastric bypass surgery for obesity and the sleeve gastrectomy. I was trained in the UK and Australia and travelled extensively to understand the disease of obesity and the best possible operation for each individual patient. I spent many hours in England with Shaw Somers, the famous fat doctor who has changed the lives of thousands of patients in the UK. I still talk to Shaw on a regular basis and often will ask Shaw’s opinion for very difficult cases. I often receive referrals from other surgeons for Open revision surgery for obesity given my experience with this complex work. Whilst in the UK, I spent a lot of time performing complex re do work with Shaw and learnt a lot about what works best for patients who have failed previous surgery for obesity. Failed bands, stapling, sleeves and bypass are all areas that I perform revision surgery for.
