Dr Abhishek Joshi completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at BJ Medical College and Research Institute in Ahmedabad, India in 1997. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine MD (Internal Medicine) in 2002 and Doctorate in Medicine DM (Medical Oncology) in 2006. He obtained his European Certification in Medical Oncology (ECMO) in 2006 at Istanbul.Dr Joshi established a medical oncology and bone marrow transplant unit in northern Punjab and successfully conducted the first ever private sector bone marrow transplant for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in India. In 2006, he began working in Australia at the Cairns Base Hospital and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2010.Currently, he works as a Consultant Medical Oncologist for Icon Cancer Care Townsville and has got public attachment at the Townsville Cancer Centre, where he is the Medical Oncology Advanced Trainee Supervisor. He is also actively involved with undergraduate medical education as a Senior Lecturer and Lead of Medical Oncology in the discipline of Medicine at James Cook University.
