Carbal originated from the efforts of Aboriginal people to establish a culturally safe and secure health service in Toowoomba that could comprehensively address the health needs. Carbal Medical Services (Carbal) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Responsive Health Care Organisation.

Carbal is the tribal totem (carpet snake) for the Traditional Owners of land on which Darling Downs resides. The Jarrowair and Giabal people are the traditional owners of the land.

Carbal is continuously redesigning its processes to ensure that the client’s journey through our organisation meets the medical, health, social and cultural needs of clients. We have a dedicated multidisciplinary team of individuals who work hard to try and close the gap that exists between the health outcomes in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population and the rest of contemporary Australian society.
