Nicole Scott (Clinical Psychologist)

Nicole obtained her undergraduate and honours degrees from RMIT University and her Master of Clinical Psychology from the Cairnmillar Institute. Nicole has worked extensively with children from eight years of age and adolescents in various educational settings. She has also worked with adults, in both clinical and medical settings. Nicole is skilled in managing several difficulties typically experienced in childhood and adolescence, including bullying, school refusal, friendship difficulties, maladaptive eating patterns, perfectionism, self-harm, parental separation, as well as exam/study and assessment related stress. She has experience in assisting adults and children from eight years of age with various issues such as low mood/depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, body image, low self-esteem, insomnia, relationship difficulties, gambling, life transition issues, grief and loss, pregnancy, distress/anxiety associated with physical health issues and family conflict. Nicole has experience in the assessment and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Personality Disorders, Substance Use Disorders and other Anxiety/Depressive Disorders. Nicole has a strong interest in the treatment of anxiety (particularly generalised anxiety and social anxiety), depression and trauma. She is particularly interested in the Brain-Gut Connection, including the central role that nutrition and exercise play in managing anxiety, in combination with psychotherapy. Nicole has worked individually with many twin clients. She has a good understanding of the issues and challenges which individuals who are twins often face and the unique dynamic which can arise for twins within families, friendship groups and between the dyad. Nicole employs a unique approach, utilising a combination of evidence-based psychological therapies including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Mindfulness. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is eligible to be a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Interest Group. Outside of work Nicole enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, walking her dog and cooking. Nicole is available at our Reservoir office which is easily accessible from the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
