Taryn is a registered physiotherapist who has held a special interest in women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction since completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney in 1999.

Since then, her many years of employment as both a senior physiotherapy clinician and clinical researcher at the Royal Hospital for Women has led her to gain extensive experience in the conservative management of both pregnancy related conditions and gynaecological disorders.

Currently Taryn’s particular clinical interest area is complex pelvic floor dysfunction. Her clinical service aims to provide detailed assessment and management options for women suffering with any type of pelvic floor dysfunction, ranging from pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence, through to chronic sexual and pelvic pain. In addition, Taryn also provides clinical services for women suffering with common pregnancy discomforts including low back pain, circulatory issues (e.g. varicose veins) as well as hand and wrist complaints.

Despite her naturally introverted nature, her passion to ensure all women have access to quality care is what drives Taryn to now split her time between a clinical and teaching role. As a result, Taryn currently spends two days per week working clinically at Alana Health Care for Women and the remaining 3 days per week providing professional development, training and support to physiotherapists throughout Australia and New Zealand who are working in the Women’s Health field.

She is regularly an invited lecturer in women’s health at both Sydney University and Australian Catholic University, and is regularly invited to speak at both national and international conferences.

Despite this ‘work-a-holic’ nature, Taryn also likes to make sure she has time to spend at home with her husband Colin, two boys Ethan and Joshua, her cavoodle “Jetc” and two chickens Maggie and Julie.
