Sarah James is an experienced and highly empathic psychologist who brings a warm and inviting experience to her therapy practice. She sees adolescents, adults and couples and is passionate about helping her clients build upon their strengths to overcome adversity. Sarah focuses on creating strong therapeutic relationships with all her clients which, in turn, facilitates positive changes for them.
Sarah holds a range of experience providing psychological interventions to help clients resolve anxiety, depression, life adjustments, self-esteem issues and relationship difficulties. She also has experience working with clients in residential and outpatient settings to help them overcome drug and alcohol abuse. Sarah enjoys assisting her clients to achieve their full potential, overcome addiction and move into recovery.
Sarah has also worked helping those with career challenges through strengths-based counselling and conducted vocational assessments to assist clients to achieve their goals and overcome significant mental health concerns. Furthermore, Sarah has worked with vulnerable children and families, in London and Sydney, assisting parents to build positive parenting skills, develop close bonds and secure attachments with their children.
Sarah obtained her Bachelor and Post Graduate qualifications in Psychology from the University of Wollongong and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) . She has an interest in relationships and families and she completed her thesis on anxiety in close relationships. Sarah uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR).
