Samantha May completed her accredited postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University in Sydney where she completed her Masters degree and was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence. Over the course of her training she has worked in a number of clinical settings, including community and hospital-based mental health services in the private and public sector in Sydney, as well as completing training in large-scale forensic settings in the UK. She provides assessment and treatment for a range of issues including mood, anxiety and adjustment disorders; antenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety; parenting challenges; interpersonal and relationship difficulties; personality disorders; and post traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma and dissociative symptomatology. She adopts an integrative approach to treatment, drawing from a range of therapy and theoretical approaches to suit the difficulties presented by the individual. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT), Positive Psychology, Attachment and Personality Theory-informed approaches, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) for the treatment of trauma. Samantha also provides clinical supervision, and is a Board Approved Supervisor for candidates in a Higher Degree Program and candidates in the Registrar Program in the area of Clinical Psychology. Samantha was appointed a Fellow of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) in recognition of her contribution to the profession in the course of her work for ACPA, including as one of the founding Board Members.
