Dr Melissa Grogan completed her Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) at Macquarie University, and completed her undergraduate studies in psychology and primary teaching at the University of Newcastle. Melissa sees adults, adolescents and children at Newcastle NeuroHealth.
She has worked clinically within Newcastle, Central Coast and the United Kingdom for over a decade. Locally, she has gained experience in neuropsychological assessment, rehabilitation and psychological therapy at the Kaleidoscope Paediatric Rehabilitation Service, Rankin Park Centre (rehabilitation and aged care), Central Coast Adult Neuropsychology service, and currently at the Hunter Brain Injury Service and Central Coast Specialist Mental Health Service for Older People. She has a particular interest in neurodegenerative conditions, although has expertise across the life span, including developmental disorders, learning disorders, cerebral palsy, ADHD, brain injury, dementia, stroke, multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions. Melissa also spent two years in London working at an inpatient stroke unit, brain injury service, and community neurorehabilitation team. She also worked at a London private practice performing diagnostic and medico-legal assessments.
She has experience as a clinical rater for international CNS drug trials, and in her role as Senior Assessment Specialist at i3Research she was responsible for the training and certification of raters across the Asia-Pacific region. During the completion of her postgraduate studies, Melissa worked in occupational rehabilitation, which when combined with her neuropsychology expertise, gives her a thorough understanding of the psychological adjustment and challenges that can occur when returning to work following a neurological injury/illness.
Melissa is a casual lecturer at the University of Newcastle, and adjunct supervisor at Macquarie University.
