Karen is a Registered Psychologist with 25 years experience. Her areas of special interest and expertise include children and young people with anxiety, depression and emotion regulation difficulties. Karen has experience working with people of all ages with a range of psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, disability-related issues, medically unexplained symptoms (somatoform) and borderline personality disorder. Karen works largely within an integrative framework of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She also has expertise in dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Karen has published over 70 refereed international journal articles, book chapters and therapy manuals. She is principal author of ProACTive, an evidence based ACT program for children with anxiety. She trains health professionals in this treatment across Australia. Karen is an accredited provider with Medicare and Work Cover. Karen has a registered Pets as Therapy Dog, “Roxie”, available to attend therapy sessions at client’s approval.
