Elisabeth Staunton is a registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Chinese Medicine- Acupuncture and Herbs with Honors. She is registered with AACMA and AHPRA.
Whilst completing her internship in a teaching hospital in Shanghai China, Elisabeth spent time in several departments including Acupuncture, Gynecology and Internal Medicine. There she observed how Western Medicine and Chinese Medicine were integrated effectively for positive health outcomes.
Prior to starting her own practice, Elisabeth spent a year volunteering in both a community based acupuncture program for the disadvantaged and at a holistic drug rehabilitation facility. At these clinics, Traditional Chinese Medicine principles and practices were used to treat many issues including chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia.
Since 2009, after establishing a practice in the Western Suburbs, Elisabeth joined Yarraville Health Group as a locum practitioner and then went on to take a permanent position.
Incorporating traditional eastern philosophies into her practice she uses Acupuncture and other techniques including acupressure, cupping, moxibustion, guasha, Chinese dietary therapy and herbal remedies.
Elisabeth has a special interest in getting to the underlying cause of illness whether it is physical or emotional. This is done through consultation, evaluating signs and symptoms, assessing lifestyle factors and using other diagnostic tools including palpation and pulse reading.
She treats a wide range of conditions in her practice including muscular skeletal injury, chronic pain, migraine relief, fertility issues, IVF support, skin disorders, digestive issues and anxiety.
Elisabeth also finds acupuncture to be very useful in conjunction with other health care modalities and often works together with our Naturopath Rowenna Halge in areas of Women’s health and fertility and to address imbalances that may lead to hormone and energy issues.
