Cathie's practice, Reach Your Potential Counselling, is located at Norwest in Sydney's Hills District provides adults therapy and psychological treatment in the recovery from trauma, psychological and mental health issues and clinical supervision to allied health professionals

Cathie Valenzuela has extensive experience as a Social Worker, having worked nearly 20 years in various fields of practice including: mental health, intellectual disability, cognitive impairments, traumatic and non-traumatic related physical disability, missing persons, defence and veteran community, refugees and asylum seekers, victims of crime including and adult survivors of child sexual abuse. In the last 10 years, Cathie has been providing trauma informed counselling and trauma focused therapy to individuals and in December 2023 is venturing into private practice.

Cathie’s warm, empathic, open, compassionate and understanding nature helps create a safe therapeutic space for people to share, heal and recover. Cathie is trained in a range of trauma specific modalities and tailors her approach to meet the needs of the person and where they are at. Cathie supports people’s recovery, empower and help people realise their potential to have meaningful connections and purposeful lives.

Cathie’s vast work experience has helped her gain knowledge and skills in working in different fields of practice, providing support and treatment to people experiencing a range of issues and challenges. This also enables her to connect and work with a wide range of people from all walks of life, of different cultures and age groups.
