Amanda has been a practising physiotherapist since graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in 2008. She completed her Graduate Certificate of Physiotherapy for the Pelvic Floor from The University of Melbourne, 2015. Amanda finds working closely with clients to meet their rehabilitation goals very rewarding and her passion for physiotherapy and helping others to lead a healthy and active life has grown over the years. Upon graduating, she kicked off her career working at busy and well established inner city Melbourne practices, treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and developing an interest in Clinical Pilates and active rehabilitation. She completed her formal Pilates training through The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute, 2013. Amanda's interest in pelvic floor rehabilitation and women's health began while on placement in her final year of physiotherapy at university. As her client base of young women progressed to pre-natal and then to post-natal, she found she 'fell in' to the world of pelvic floor therapy due to the evolving needs of her clients, thus undertaking further studies in this specialised area. In 2015, she took her new qualifications to Brisbane, and honed her skills under the mentorship of Sue Croft, a well-respected and experienced pelvic floor physiotherapist. Sue writes a blog about pelvic floor function which you can read here. She also helped Sue to start her 'pelvic floor safe Pilates' and Running Assessment services. While Amanda's special interest lies in pelvic floor related conditions, including men (read here an article Amanda wrote for Men's Muscle & Health Magazine) she is still very interested in treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. At the end of the day, her goal is to help people return to what they love doing, or just to live a better quality of life. Thorough assessment, appropriate manual techniques, specifically prescribed exercises and education based on the latest scientific research are key to Amanda's practice in helping her clients to reach their health goals.
