Mick has dual qualifications in Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology. He completed his Exercise Science degree from ACU (North Sydney) in 2002 and then returned to full-time study again in 2006 at James Cook University in Townsville, and completed the Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree at the end of 2009.

Mick then commenced full-time work at a busy sports physiotherapy clinic, working under the NQ Cowboys and ARL Kangaroos head physiotherapist. During that time, and over the next 3 years, he was an assistant physiotherapist to the NQ Cowboys first grade and U20's squads, providing game day physiotherapy services and off-field injury assessment and management to injured players.

In 2013, he and his wife relocated to Newcastle, NSW where he worked in another busy sports physiotherapy clinic, and started working with the Emerging Newcastle Jets soccer program. In 2014 he was appointed head physiotherapist of the Newcastle Jets youth team for the 2014-15 season, and also completed the Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy from Latrobe University.

Mick has a very keen interest in the treatment and management of the adolescent athlete and their unique injury profile. He loves the challenge of injury prevention/ and minimisation strategies, and is a keen observer of biomechanics that are related to knee, hip and lumbar spine complaints. He also has interests in the following areas:

Soft tissue injury rehabilitation - particularly the calf, groin and hamstring. The knee – confident in all aspects of knee injury prevention and post-op rehabilitation of ACL, meniscal problems, all arthroscopes, stabilisations and TKR. Lumbar spine stress reactions/fractures. Tendinopathies Mick also conducts off site assessments, attending your gymnasium to ensure appropriate techniques are employed and your risk of injury is minimised. Discuss this with Mick during your consultation. Conditions such as gymnasium location do apply.

Outside of work Mick enjoys spending time with his wife and his 1 year old daughter. He also loves running with his Border Collie “Wilson”, good food, the occasional glass of a good single malt scotch, and following his much beloved NQ Cowboys in the NRL and the mighty Sydney Swans in the AFL.
