Mr Basson emigrated to Australia from South Africa and worked in the Department of General Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital in 2003. After obtaining fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004 he then started as a visiting medical specialist at Armadale Health Service with appointments at Galliers Private Hospital and the Mount Hospital. He was acting Director of Surgical Services at Armadale Health Service in 2005. He joined the Department of Surgery at Joondalup Health Campus in 2006 where he is currently the Head of Department of General Surgery. Mr Basson specialises in upper gastro-intestinal and laparoscopic surgery. He is a partner in Bariatric Medicine integrated and has a keen interest in management of metabolic syndrome and bariatric surgery
