Daniel graduated with first class honours from Monash University Medical School in 2003. He was awarded the Australian Medical Association Prize for achieving the highest aggregate marks over the final 2 years of his medical degree. Daniel Steiner undertook his internship and junior medical training through the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He completed his Basic Surgical Training in 2007 and was awarded the Clinical Committee Prize for achieving the highest marks in the 2007 Basic Surgical Training clinical exam. Daniel then undertook a year of advanced training in General Surgery through the Alfred Hospital before commencing his Urology training in 2009. He undertook his initial 3 years of Urological training in New South Wales, spending a year at each of the John Hunter Hospital Newcastle, Royal North Shore and Prince of Wales Hospitals including 6 months within Sydney Children’s Hospital. Daniel completed his Urology fellowship exam in 2011. Daniel then relocated to Melbourne, where he undertook an additional fellowship year at the Western Hospital specialising in advanced laparoscopic Urological operations including laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, laparoscopic pyeloplasty and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. He has travelled to Taiwan for advanced training in laparoscopic surgery and the USA for training in both seed brachytherapy and robotic surgery for localised Prostate Cancer. Daniel is trained in all aspects of general Urology however has special interests in: advanced laparoscopic procedures for the management of benign and malignant urological disorders, minimally invasive kidney stone treatment (including PCNL for very large stones) and the latest medical and surgical management of benign prostatic enlargement. He has also received training on the daVinci Robot system in both Australia and USA and can offer Robotic Assisted Radical Prostatectomy for the treatment of localised Prostate Cancer. In addition to his clinical work, Daniel has a strong interest in surgical research and surgical education. He has presented papers at numerous national and international meetings and has numerous publications in medical journals. Daniel also regularly lectures students from Melbourne University Medical School. Daniel takes great pride in providing the highest level of quality Urological care to his patients. He places emphasis on individualising the care of each of his patients.
